I am really excited about it. We are eating less meat these days, and I want to make sure we get the protein and other goodness we need. So I thought this would be a good thing to get used to having around.
This stuff is good. I've heard a lot of different information on Nutritional Yeast. Not only is it a for vitamin C, but also for regulating blood sugar levels...among many other things.
Not only is this stuff good, from a health stand-point. But I can remember as a child being at a friend's house and literally eating this stuff from a jar. We would put it on popcorn, sprinkle it in veggies and mostly just try to lick every single flake from our fingers.
My goal was to introduce the boys to this without "introducing" them to it first. They both have a slight tendency to not try my healthy concoctions if they find out what's in it first. I can make delicious, yet healthy things-but have to keep it a secret until they taste it first. I proposed a movie night, and started popping the kernels. Just a splash of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, to coat the pan, and a layer of kernels over a medium high heat. Swirl the pot...you know the drill right? Here's a link to a good recipe. I didn't use the chili powder or the cumin...I will try it in the future, but this time I had to keep it simple for fear of blowing my cover.
Definitely a new addition to the recipe box...can't wait to take it to Oma D's and Papa John's!
