You never really know a person, until you know what they are willing to sacrifice. Some give up dreams, others careers... or lifestyles, there are those who are willing to give what it takes...and then there are those who will sacrifice anything at all for what they want.
Of course it is important to look at what one is making the sacrifice for...are you sacrificing love for money, or family for a dream. Do you give up friends for a new lifestyle, or even your family just to "keep up with the Joneses" Or are you the mother staying home to raise her children while your career, and dreams are fading away. Are you the father that comes home as soon as you can, even though it might cost you that promotion because your child has a t-ball game? Or are you the neighbor going away again because you know your family misses and needs you?
You can see a persons true colors based on their sacrifice in life. We all make them...we all justify them to ourselves. But when I look back at my life, and my sacrifices I will be able to say "it was worth it."
I look at my family, and my parents and I would do anything to be with them more. Who cares if our renovation takes longer than we planned? And sure I'd be happy teaching English in Germany- but I'm happier here with the ones I love.
I wrote a poem a while back...I truly feel our society is bombarded by this "lifestyle" we are supposed to have...fancy things are fabled to make us happier, and will give us more friends...but you have to sacrifice the important things to get that sometimes. I find happiness in my life, because I know my life is leading me to lifetime fulfillment. I'm not reaching for the next best thing, I'm reaching for my loved ones and I am reaching within to find my true joys in life.
Chasing a dream can only take you so far...
'till you realize- it's just an old burnt out star.
Once beautiful and bright,
Now just dark and cold...
Keep chasing it, silly child
Go on, chase 'till you're old.
While you're off chasing stars,
I'll be here in light.
I be here enjoying the beautiful sight.
It may not be fancy, sparkle or gleam...
But one day you'll see that it is everything.
Everything you wanted, needed and desired.
Everything you saw blazing in the fire.
Everything you wanted but didn't know how to grasp,
Everything that could have been all left in the past.
So chase the dream that will only take you so far.
Chase it 'till you see- it's just an old burnt out star.
Once beautiful, yeah-beautiful and bright,
Now leaves you dark and cold...
Keep chasing silly child,
Go on, chase 'till you're old.
I really had no intention of making it the shape of a vase, but I find it fitting actually. My cup runneth over, it bubbles and flows with love... Someday the world will wake up and see the beauty within, and the world will see that we are fed these ideas of what we should be, when all we need to be is happy.
Don't sacrifice everything for an empty jar at the end of your life...make sure yours is filled with goodness and love every day.
Just another day in the life of C A Stone...♥
Live in the rhythm of love...and share the bliss!
