Busy week- here's some of what we did!
I planted some bulbs, and am wishing, hoping, praying that I get some of the flowers for the wedding. We shall see. They are getting lots of love, sun and water...
While planting said bulbs, I broke the rake. So now it has a new job:
I spent the entire morning and half of the afternoon baking. Shiloh's boyscout pack had a special celebration and each den chose a country...of course we chose Germany and I made my favorite German cake...and it's not the one most people would think when they think German Cake. It's not the one with the yucky coconut flakes. Blech. But the one with the yummy strawberries! Lecker!
First was the batter... and the pudding filling. I think next time I'll make some sort of cream filling. I think it would be better.
So I made the batter and cream filling first, then buttered the pan. I made the Semmelbröseln out of some old bread in the freezer, using my awesome new coffee and spice grinder. It worked like a charm!
I then poured the mix and baked!
So we refrigerated them until time for the boy's event, and once we arrived and pulled them out of the bag I was unable to even get away from the booth to try anything else! I hadn't even tried a piece and the first cake was gone! sadly tho...every other booth had sweets as well. We were supposed to have one of the den parents bring some sausages and sauerkraut, but they also brought sweets. No den brought real food...so we didn't serve all the cakes.Which works for all involved. I'll be taking the third one to a dear friend who has a new and beautiful baby boy. :)
