What else could go wrong? Right?
Heh. Right. What else could possibly go wrong...well. We get stuck behind this truck going about 15 miles under the speed limit, and try passing him a few times, to no avail. And give up. Then we see three shooting stars. I made a few good wishes (even though all my really important ones have already been filled) and then just a few yards in front of us, that truck we have happily forgotten about in lieu of the shooting stars hits a convertible volkswagon going the opposite way. The guy tried turning in front of her. Hit her head on. I grab my phone, dial 911, and run to the nearest car to give aid... it was the truck driver that was closest, and i get to his car, and he gets out- ignores my questions to him about his condition. I figure he has some friends in the other cars that have stopped. So I run to the help the girl, and later on find out the other man has fled the scene!
What a creep. The sheriff explained they found enough info on him in his car to find him; home address, work address, etc. So I hope they get him, and I hope they get him good. I also hope the family of this girl, and she are doing fine. I also couldn't believe the lack of care from the onlookers. No one else called 911, or helped the poor girl. A couple guys flashed lights as vehicles were approaching, but out of the six vehicles that witnessed the accident, only Jon and myself waited for the ambulance, and her family to get there.
I hope that no mother ever has to witness her child in an accident. That was so hard to see. All I could think about was how my Mother felt when she came to the scene at my accident a few years ago, and how I would feel if my Shi ever was in an accident.
I hope I helped give that mother the comfort she needed, and I hope I helped her daughter as well. We were invited to their family restaurant, so I think in a few weeks we will try and get out there.
Just remember when you see those lights...that is somebody's baby in that car. Someone out there loves that person that is hurting. And you would want someone to stop for your loved one.
So Friday the 13th...next time I see you (in May)...you better make it a better day.
